Update and a (castle) berry life hack
Halfway through June and here we go again!
Finishing up May and moving into June brought Cleaning Up Box Elder, visiting the new Amazon building while in Sioux Falls for Memorial Day and the ribbon cutting at the South Dakota State Veteran’s Cemetery, meetings with West River Tenants United, Rapid Valley Sanitary District, Elevate Rapid City, and representatives from some of our South Dakota Native American Tribes, attending the first Box Elder food truck community night (every Tuesday all summer long), the announcement of Ellsworth Air Force Base as the official selection for the B21 Bombers, stopping by to see the folks at Dakota Butcher for the press release on Meat Processing Grants that I supported last year in the legislature, cast my vote for the RCAS school board election, celebrating #605Day at the Kids Carnival at Main Street Square, attended a 3K fundraiser for the Humane Society of the Black Hills, and the Adult Fun Night fundraiser for Storybook Island (won the costume contest- woohoo). Also visited about housing issues, a new potential project in Hot Springs for homeless veterans, helped my son register for classes at BHSU, and even had time to throw some plants in the ground. (Strawberry hack- painting little rocks red and putting them under the plants before the berries came in totally kept the birds from eating my fruit!). AND, while I'll always have a heart for little kids, having adult children is so fulfilling. Now it's onto more big stuff- visiting with the property tax office, following up on resources for high needs in our community, and preparing for July- an extremely intensive legislative schedule.
