Jessica Castleberry instructed preschoolers for over a decade before opening Little Nest Preschool in 2010. Jessica has also taught many specialized art, music, dance, yoga, and drama classes for preschoolers for organizations such as the Dahl Arts Center, Black Hills Community Theatre, the Academy of Dance Arts, Meadowlark Productions, Storybook Island Children's Theatre, and the Rapid City and Douglas School Systems, among others. Jessica is an early childhood education conference presenter, author of two books, numerous articles on parenting and education, preschool music songwriter, and an advocate for early childhood education for the state of South Dakota.
In 2017 she opened her secondary preschool location in Rapid City, SD, Little Nest Preschool South.
In addition to her National Child Development Associate credential, Jessica also holds a Director Certificate, and is a graduate of the 2015 Women in Leadership series from Black Hills State University, Leadership Rapid City 2016, and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses 2017. Jessica was awarded the SD CEO Enterprising Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2016, and the Small Business Administration's South Dakota Woman Owned Business of the Year for 2018.
Jessica has a commitment to the community of Rapid City and the state of South Dakota. She is a board member of the South Dakota Association of Child Care Directors, the head of the committee for the Rapid City Early Childhood Educator of the Year, and the president of the South Dakota Association for the Education of Young Children.
Jessica is dedicated to mentorship, professional recognition for early childhood educators, and raising the bar for early childhood education in the state of South Dakota. She is the blog author for Early Education Plantation, a blog community providing resources, dialogue, and connectivity for those interested and invested in the Early Childhood Education environment in South Dakota, and a contributing blog author to Fractus Learning based out of the University of London, UK.
